TUART HILL CRICKET CLUB
2nd Grade Report 97-98

Here we are again, at the end of the season, and how time flies when you
are winning games.
We started off a little sluggish early, what with losing players to other
clubs, and not recruiting very well, things weren’t looking all that rosy. So if you
had told me at the start of the year or even at Christmas we were going to finish
third and play in the finals, I would have grabbed it with both hands. But to my
delight the guys showed that you don’t need stars to win games, but a team of
mates who hated losing not for themselves, but for the other players in the side.
We proved not only to the club, the association, and to ourselves that we had
what it took to win games when we needed to.
To the players in the side, everyone contributed to the teams great success
and with a little more luck we might have won the grand final, but that was not to be.
Over the year guys such as Chuck Norriss, Murray Schofield , The
evergreen Stimmo, Doug (Drew) Dallimore and Scott Verrier had a good year
with the bat combined with some good cameo performances by Bam Bam and
Shane Skidmore, the side amassed some good scores throughout the year. On the
bowling side there was no stand out, but Anthony Armenti, Stimmo, Doug
Dallimore, Beau Bamford and Craig Sparrowhawk all combined well to bowl
the majority of sides out with runs to spare. Well Done Boys.
Over the year there have been a number of great stand out performances,
but I think there was three significant performances. The 222 opening stand
between Pat Norriss (112) and Murray Schofield (114) was a highlight. Doug
Dallimore’s 138 in the Grand Final was exceptional. But overall the greatest
performance of all was that of the 2nd Grade team to actually make the Grand
Final and secure an A Grade berth for next year.
To the people that helped out all year such as Stimmos tireless efforts,
Jodies great support and the numerous other people who helped me out over the
year. Thanks a Million.
Special thanks should go to Kylie for her great effort with our lunches
during the Grand Final, Griffo for scoring for us and to all the other players who
helped get us there
In Closing, I might not have had the pleasure to play in a winning top
grade grand final side , but in my opinion this is the best bunch of mates I have
ever played cricket with. Thanks for a very memorable season.
